COL FB: Auburn 35, South Carolina 27

AUBURN, Ala., Sept. 26 (UPI) -- No. 14 Auburn's Cameron Newton found Philip Lutzenkirchen for the go-ahead score in the fourth quarter Saturday for a 35-27 victory over No. 15 South Carolina.

Newton struck again with 6 1/2 minutes left, hitting Emory Blake to forge an eight-point lead, giving Auburn (4-0, 2-0 SEC) some breathing room in a key early-season SEC match-up.

Both scores came after costly fumbles by Gamecock junior quarterback Stephen Garcia.

Newton also ran for three scores, finishing with for 176 yards on 25 carries plus going 16-of-21 through the air for 158 yards for the Tigers.

Michael Dyer, meanwhile, provided 100 rushing yards in the Auburn victory, in which the Tigers racked up 332 yards on the ground.

Garcia ended up 15-of-21 passing for 235 yards with three TD tosses for South Carolina (3-1, 1-1), two of which went to sophomore Alshon Jeffery.
