COL FB: South Carolina 17, Georgia 6

COLUMBIA, S.C., Sept. 11 (UPI) -- South Carolina used its ground game led by freshman Marcus Lattimore to upend SEC rival Georgia 17-6 Saturday.

Coach Steve Spurrier's 24th-ranked Gamecocks (2-0) ran the ball 52 times for 189 yards against the No. 22 Bulldogs (1-1) and added 165 yards in the air.

Lattimore had 37 carries for 182 yards and two touchdowns. Quarterback Stephen Garcia was 12-of-17 for 165 yards. Alshon Jeffries had seven catches for 103 yards.

The Bulldogs had field goals of 27 and 26 yards from Blair Walsh.

Aaron Murray finished 14-of-21 with 192 yards passing for Georgia. Murray's favorite receiver, A.J. Green, sat out the contest as part of a four-game suspension for selling his jersey to an agent.

Georgia made a strong bid to get back in the game in the third quarter but South Carolina recovered a forced fumble by Washaun Ealey at their 1-yard line.
