MINNEAPOLIS, Sept. 1 (UPI) -- Delmon Young singled home Joe Mauer with the go-ahead run during a seventh-inning rally Tuesday and the Minnesota Twins edged Detroit 4-3.

Ryan Perry came in to pitch and issued a walk to Michael Cuddyer, forcing in the tying run, and Young followed with a bloop to left, chasing home Mauer and helping the Twins to post their 12th win in 14 home games.

Minnesota, which maintained a four-game lead over the second-place Chicago White Sox in the American League Central, got sixth-inning RBI from Cuddyer and Danny Valencia to cut their deficit to 3-2.

Matt Guerrier (3-7) picked up the win after inducing Brandon Inge to fly out, ending a seventh-inning jam inherited from starter Brian Duensing.

Matt Capps collected his seventh save for the Twins with a scoreless ninth.
