Wie cruises in second career LPGA win

WINNIPEG, Manitoba, Aug. 29 (UPI) -- Michelle Wie pulled away from the pack Sunday, cruising to a three-shot victory at the Canadian Women's Open for her second career victory.

Wie, who shared the second-round lead with Jiyai Shin, pulled away with a 2-under-par 70 Sunday to finish three strokes clear of four players.

The 20-year-old Hawaiian star, who turned pro before her 16th birthday, earned her long-awaited first crown came last year at Lorena Ochoa's tournament in Mexico.

Wie secured her second win by making three consecutive birdies on the back nine, capped by a chip-in from off the green at No. 15.

Shin, the former world No. 1, ended with a 73 to share second place with Kristy McPherson (66), Jee Young Lee (69) and defending champion Suzann Pettersen (69) at nine-under 279.
