MLB: Minnesota 12, Chicago White Sox 6

CHICAGO, Aug. 11 (UPI) -- Michael Cuddyer drove in four runs and the Minnesota Twins blasted five home runs Tuesday in a 12-6 rout of the Chicago White Sox.

Cuddyer, Joe Mauer, Jim Thome, J.J. Hardy and Jason Kubel all went deep for Minnesota, which pounded out 14 hits and forged ahead of the White Sox into first place in the American League Central.

Mauer went 3-for-5 and drove in three runs, raising his average to .325, while Kubel scored four times and collected a pair of RBI for the victors.

Scott Baker (10-9) survived a rocky beginning to log a win in a six-inning performance, yielding five runs (four earned) on eight hits, walking one and striking out five for the Twins, who have gone 18-7 since the All-Star break.

White Sox starter Freddy Garcia (10-5) lasted only 2 1/3 innings, getting rocked for six runs on eight hits.
