MLB: Baltimore 3, Cleveland 1

CLEVELAND, Aug. 11 (UPI) -- Brad Bergesen allowed only two hits while going the distance Wednesday, carrying the Baltimore Orioles to a 3-1 win over Cleveland.

The Orioles won for the eighth time in nine games -- a stretch that began with the arrival of Manager Buck Showalter Aug. 3.

Bergesen (4-9) struck out four, walked two and gave up a run-scoring single to Luis Valbuena in the fifth and a two-out single to Asdrubal Cabrera in the ninth. He was making the 38th start in the majors and had lost his previous seven decisions.

It was his second complete game, the other one coming in 2009.

Baltimore managed only three runs off its 13 hits and one of the runs was unearned. Brian Roberts gave the Orioles a 3-0 lead with a solo homer in the fifth.

Josh Tomlin (1-2), who was making his fourth career start, gave up all three runs on 10 hits in five innings. The Indians have dropped four straight.
