MLB: Milwaukee 5, Minnesota 3

MILWAUKEE, June 23 (UPI) -- Rickie Weeks drove in three runs Friday and the Milwaukee Brewers overcame a franchise-record five wild pitches to defeat Minnesota 5-3.

Four of the wild pitches came from Manny Parra (2-5), who survived them to get the victory. He scattered seven hits, struck out six and allowed two runs over 5 2/3 innings.

Weeks singled in two runs in the fourth to give the Brewers a 3-2 lead, and then had an RBI single in the eighth.

Milwaukee had a three-run cushion heading into the ninth and John Axford grabbed his sixth save despite giving up a two-out, RBI double by Joe Mauer.

Francisco Liriano (6-5) took the loss, giving up three runs on seven hits in five innings. Liriano began the season by winning his first four decisions.

Milwaukee won its third straight.

The Twins remained 1 1/2 games in front of Detroit for the lead in the American League Central.
