St. Louis chased the Reds' starter in the next frame when they added three more runs via Skip Schumaker's run-scoring single and a Felipe Lopez double that plated two more.

Lopez, Ryan Ludwick, Holliday and Schumaker each notched two RBI in the Cards' win, which enabled them to forge a tie with Cincinnati atop the National League Central standings.

Jaime Garcia (5-2) allowed only two earned runs over six innings, yielding seven hits and three walks while striking out six.

Arroyo was pounded for seven runs on 10 hits in 4 1/3 frames.
