SAN FRANCISCO, April 28 (UPI) -- Wilson Valdez hit a go-ahead RBI double in the 11th inning Wednesday and the Philadelphia Phillies outlasted San Francisco for a 7-6 win.
Jayson Werth forced extra innings with a three-run double in the ninth off Giants closer Brian Wilson. Ryan Howard homered and walked as the Phillies broke a three-game losing streak.
The Giants seemed well on their way to gaining a win for starter Tim Lincecum, who was taken out of the game in the ninth after allowing only three hits and fanning 11 over 8 1/3 innings. But Wilson couldn't hold a 4-1 lead.
San Francisco's Andres Torres drove in three runs, including a game-tying run in the bottom of the 10th off Ryan Madson (1-0), who blew the save for Philadelphia but ended up with the win.
Sergio Romo (0-2) was saddled with the loss after allowing the deciding runs in the 11th.
