MLB: Pittsburgh 4, Cincinnati 3

PITTSBURGH, April 16 (UPI) -- Lastings Milledge singled home Andrew McCutchen from second with two out in the ninth Friday, giving Pittsburgh a 4-3 decision over Cincinnati.

The Reds overcame a 3-0 deficit during the final two innings, but Nick Masset failed to get the game into extra innings after striking out the first two men he faced in the ninth.

McCutchen followed those two strikeouts with a single and stole second while Milledge was at the plate. Milledge worked a 2-2 count on Masset (2-1) before driving a single to center.

Octavio Dotel (1-0) got the win despite allowing the tying run in the top of the ninth.

Zach Duke started for the Pirates and took a shutout into the eighth, but was replaced by Joel Hanrahan after walking the leadoff batter in that inning.

Hanrahan walked another batter and was relieved by Javier Lopez, who walked the bases full and then issued another walk that forced in a run. Brendan Donnelly replaced Lopez and he walked yet another batter with the bases loaded to cut the Pittsburgh lead to one run.
