NHL: Philadelphia 5, Columbus 3

PHILADELPHIA, Jan. 19 (UPI) -- Jeff Carter's second goal of the game put Philadelphia ahead for good and paced the Flyers to a 5-3 triumph over Columbus Tuesday.

Carter's unassisted tally, his 19th goal of the year, came at 11:31 of the middle frame and broke a 2-2 tie. Chris Pronger followed with a power play goal with 52 seconds to go in the period to give the Flyers a 4-2 cushion heading into the locker room.

Dan Carcillo and Arron Asham also scored for Philadelphia while Ray Emery, making his second start since returning from abdominal surgery, notched 25 saves for the win.

R.J. Umberger collected a pair of goals for the Blue Jackets, losers of four of their last five games. Rick Nash got his 23rd of the season and Kristian Huselius picked up three assists in the loss.
