Ogilvy back into world golf Top 10

VIRGINIA WATER, England, Jan. 11 (UPI) -- Geoff Ogilvy's victory at the first PGA tournament of the season boosted him back into the Top 10 of the men's world golf rankings released Monday.

Ogilvy edged Rory Sabbatini by one stroke and successfully defended his title at the SBS Championship at the Kapalua Resort Plantation in Hawaii.

He jumped from 14th to ninth in the world golf rankings, pushing several golfers down one notch. Among that group is current world No. 10 Rory McIlroy.

The top eight places in the rankings remained static, with Tiger Woods No. 1 for the 240th consecutive week. Phil Mickelson is a solid No. 2 and Steve Stricker holds the No. 3 spot.

Lee Westwood is ranked fourth ahead of No. 5 Jim Furyk, sixth-ranked Padraig Harrington, No. 7 Henrik Stenson and eighth-ranked Paul Casey.

Charl Schwartzel, who won the European PGA Tour's Africa Open Sunday, improved from 66th to 51st in the world rankings.
