NHL: New Jersey 3, Florida 2

SUNRISE, Fla., Oct. 10 (UPI) -- David Clarkson delivered the tie-breaking goal with 3:35 to play Saturday, lifting New Jersey to a 3-2 win over Florida.

The Devils won their second straight, twice taking the lead, only to have Carolina tie it.

Clarkson's goal came on the power play while Michael Frolik was in the penalty box for hooking. Clarkson tipped in a shot by Travis Zajac.

Rob Niedermayer and Zajac scored the other New Jersey goals. Rostislav Olesz and Stephen Weiss scored for the Panthers.

Martin Brodeur made 19 saves to pick up the 1003rd victory of his career. Tomas Vokoun, who is allowing 4.3 goals a game this year, surrendered three goals on 41 shots.
