MLB: Seattle 2, Texas 1

SEATTLE, Oct. 4 (UPI) -- Ryan Rowland-Smith and three relievers combined on a seven-hitter Saturday, leading Seattle's 2-1 win over the Texas Rangers.

Seattle runs scored on a solo homer by Ken Griffey Jr. in the bottom of the fourth and an RBI single by Franklin Gutierrez in the fifth.

Ichiro Suzuki had three hits and Josh Wilson two for the Mariners, who have won four of five.

Jose Lopez went 1-for-4, extending his hitting streak to 12 games.

Rowland-Smith (5-4) gave up a run and six hits in 6 2/3 innings before relief from Shawn Kelley, Garrett Olson and Miguel Batista, who earned his first save with a 1-2-3 ninth.

Elvis Andrus hit a seventh-inning RBI double, and Andruw Jones had two of the seven hits for the Rangers, who have lost five of seven.

The losing pitcher was starter Tommy Hunter (9-6).
