Edwards holds off Busch to win Kroger 200

INDIANAPOLIS, July 25 (UPI) -- Carl Edwards came from the back of the pack and passed Kyle Busch in the closing laps Saturday to win the Nationwide Kroger 200.

Edwards had to start from the back after Colin Braun qualified his car while Edwards participated in final Sprint Cup Series practice. Rain delayed qualifying earlier in the day and forced Edwards, Busch, Matt Kenseth and David Reutimann to start the 200-lap race from the rear.

Despite leading a race-high 72 laps, Edwards gave up the top position to Busch after Busch beat him out of the pits during a late-race caution. Edwards finally reclaimed the lead with 22 laps remaining.

Edwards went on to finish 0.676 seconds ahead of Busch, who widened his streak of finishing first or second to eight straight races. Edwards claimed his second victory of the season and the 22nd of his Nationwide career.

Kenseth finished third, while Brad Keselowski and Steve Wallace rounded out the top-five.
