NEW YORK, June 6 (UPI) -- Joe Dillon capped a four-run ninth inning against closer Mariano Rivera Saturday to help Tampa Bay post a 9-6 win over the New York Yankees.
The Tampa Bay bullpen had to hold off a New York rally in the bottom of the ninth. The Yankees tied the game at 5-5 with two runs in the eighth, but the Rays then ripped Rivera (0-2).
J.P. Howell (1-2) got the win despite surrendering the tying run in the eighth. Tampa Bay starter
David Price gave up three runs -- only one earned -- on two hits and five walks in 5 2/3 innings.
Willy Aybar had a three-run homer and Ben Zobrist added a solo home run for the Rays, who won for the sixth time in their last seven games.
Mark Teixeira had a solo homer and a two-run double and Alex Rodriguez a solo homer for the Yankees.
