NHL: Toronto 3, Ottawa 1

TORONTO, Jan. 3 (UPI) -- Jason Blake had a goal and an assist Saturday to fuel the Toronto Maple Leafs' 3-1 win over Ottawa.

Blake's ninth goal (unassisted) this season, came at 15:51 of the third period. Earlier, he assisted on Dominic Moore's eighth (power play) at 9:47 of the second.

Alexei Ponikarovsky scored his 12th at 10:03 of the third, and Vesa Toskala was credited with 30 saves on 31 shots for the Maple Leafs, who had lost two of the previous three meetings between the teams.

Ottawa's Daniel Alfredsson scored his 11th goal (power play) at 7:05 of the first period.

Martin Gerber was beaten three times on 30 shots for the Senators, who failed to record consecutive victories for the first time in nearly a month.

On the power play, both teams went 1-for-5.
