MLB: Chicago Cubs 6, Houston 1

MILWAUKEE, Sept. 15 (UPI) -- Ted Lilly's one-hitter over seven innings Monday helped the Chicago Cubs post a 6-1 win over Houston in a game played in Milwaukee because of Hurricane Ike.

The day after Carlos Zambrano's first no-hitter for the Cubs in 36 years, Lilly (15-9) didn't give up a hit until Mark Loretta singled in the seventh for Houston's only hit of the two-game series, Lilly allowed one walk while striking out nine.

Derrek Lee and Geovany Soto each hit two-run homers and Jim Edmonds added a solo shot for the Cubs, who have won four straight.

Chicago now holds an eight-game lead over Milwaukee, which fired Manager Ned Yost Monday, for first place in the National League Central.

David Newhan drove in the lone run of the series for the Astros, who had won six straight before the two losses to Chicago.

Brian Moehler (11-7) suffered the loss after giving up five runs on six hits in five-plus innings.
