MLB: Cleveland 3, LA Angels 2

CLEVELAND, Aug. 15 (UPI) -- Cliff Lee pitched a complete-game eight-hitter Friday and the Cleveland Indians beat the LA Angels 3-2.

Lee (17-2) became the American League's first 17-game winner this season by walking two batters and fanning six, and preventing the AL West leaders from building any major scoring threat.

Cleveland scored the winning run when Asdrubal Cabrera drew a bases-loaded walk with one out in the bottom of the sixth. Jhonny Peralta and Ryan Garko knocked in Cleveland's other runs.

Peralta was one of three players with two hits for the Indians, who stopped a two-game skid.

LA scored on Mark Teixeira's first-inning RBI single and Juan Rivera's solo homer in the fifth.

Losing pitcher Jose Arredondo (4-1) walked three batters in Cleveland's sixth-inning rally.

Teixeira had three hits, while both Rivera and Chone Figgins had two for the Angels, losers of two in a row after a five-game winning streak.
