NEW YORK, July 31 (UPI) -- Mark Teixeira recorded his first two hits in a Los Angeles uniform Thursday and the Angels got three three-run homers to pound the New York Yankees 12-6.
Torii Hunter, Juan Rivera and Vladimir Guerrero all delivered three-run shots as part of an 18-hit attack that helped hand the Yankees their fourth loss in five games. LA, coming off a three-game sweep of Boston, has won eight of nine.
Teixeira, obtained in a trade with Atlanta this week, had gone hitless in his Angels debut Wednesday. He reached on an infield single in the third and drove in a run with a single in the eighth.
New York's Ivan Rodriguez, in his first appearance since being acquired in a trade with Detroit, had a hit in three at-bats.
Hunter and Rivera both hit their homers in the third to give the Angels a 6-0 lead and Guerrero's blast came in the sixth to make it 10-2.
Nine of the runs were charged to Andy Pettitte (12-8), who gave up 11 hits and walked three in 5 1/3.
Jon Garland (10-6) sailed to the win, allowing three runs on seven hits in six innings.
