MLB: Tampa Bay 3, Chicago Cubs 2

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla., June 17 (UPI) -- Evan Longoria and Cliff Floyd each hit solo home runs Tuesday to power the Tampa Bay Rays to a 3-2 victory over the Chicago Cubs.

Erick Hinske drove in Akinori Iwamura for the other run for the Rays, who have won three of their last four games.

Scott Kazmir started for Tampa Bay and gave up one run on three hits with four walks and seven strikeouts in 4 2/3 innings. Grant Balfour (1-0) got the win for pitching 1 1/3 perfect innings.

Ryan Theriot drove in a run, and Mark DeRosa and Henry Blanco each scored for the Cubs.

Ryan Dempster started for Chicago and gave up one run on six hits with two walks with six strikeouts in five innings. Neal Cotts (0-1) got the loss for giving up two runs in one-plus inning.
