MLB: Minnesota 2, Washington 1

MINNEAPOLIS, June 17 (UPI) -- Justin Morneau hit a two-run homer in the sixth inning Tuesday to give the Minnesota Twins a 2-1 inter-league victory over the Washington Nationals.

Joe Mauer went 2-for-3 and scored a run for the Twins, who have won three of their last four games.

Livan Hernandez (7-4) got the win after giving up just one run on five hits in seven innings. Hernandez snapped a six-game winless streak and is now 5-0 at home this season. Joe Nathan earned his 18th save with a scoreless ninth.

Cristian Guzman, a former Twin, had the only RBI for the Nationals. Paul Lo Duca had a double and scored Washington's lone run in his first game back from the disabled list.

John Lannan (4-8) suffered the loss, allowing two runs on five hits in seven innings.
