HAVRE DE GRACE, Md., June 6 (UPI) -- Lorena Ochoa shot 7-under-par 65 Friday and has a one-stroke lead midway through the McDonald's LPGA Championship in Havre de Grace, Md.
The top-ranked women's golfer faced a three-shot deficit when Friday's second round started, but her sizzling 65 ended with a downhill 25-foot putt on the par-4 18th hole.
Her 36-hole total is 10-under 134.
"I didn't get too stressed," Ochoa told The Washington Post about her double bogey 6 at the par 4 13th hole. "I just thought it would be fine to make a couple of birdies on the front and finish even, and then three more on the back, so I did that."
Lindsey Wright (68) is alone in second place at 9-under 135, while at Lorie Kane (70) and Rachel Hetherington (68) share third 8-under 136.
Kane and Emily Bastel were co-leaders after Thursday's first round in the LPGA's second major tournament this season.
Defending champion Suzann Pettersen (68) is tied for 10th at 5-under 139.
