PITTSBURGH, May 28 (UPI) -- Sidney Crosby ended Pittsburgh's scoring drought with two goals Wednesday and the Penguins battled back in the Stanley Cup Finals with a 3-2 win over Detroit.

Pittsburgh reduced its deficit to 2-1 in the fight for the National Hockey League title and will try to even the series when it hosts Game 4 Saturday.

Detroit's Chris Osgood was trying to become only the second goaltender ever to open a Stanley Cup series with three straight shutouts, but Crosby finally produced a Pittsburgh goal when he got a wrist shot past Osgood with 2:35 left in the first period.

Crosby scored again on the power play 2:34 into the second before Johan Franzen brought the Red Wings back within one with his 13th playoff goal. Franzen scored on the power play with 5:12 to go in the second.

Adam Hall restored Pittsburgh's two-goal lead 7:18 into the third and that became the game-winning score when Detroit's Mikael Samuelsson tallied with 6:23 left in regulation.

Marc-Andre Fleury, who was bombarded in the first two games, made 32 saves in Game 3. Osgood lost for just the third time in the playoffs after taking over from Dominik Hasek for Game 5 in the opening round.
