MLB: Atlanta 6, N.Y. Mets 1 (1st game)

ATLANTA, May 20 (UPI) -- Brian McCann homered and drove in three runs Tuesday to propel the Atlanta Braves to a 6-1 win over the New York Mets in the first game of a doubleheader.

Tom Glavine (2-1), who spent the past five seasons with the Mets before returning to Atlanta, shut down his ex-teammates, allowing just one run on three hits in six innings to pick up his 305th career win. That tied him with Eddie Plank for 20th on the all-time list.

Glavine combined with relievers Will Ohman and Blaine Boyer to retire 22 consecutive Mets before Jose Reyes' two-out single in the eighth.

Mark Teixeira, Yunel Escobar and Kelly Johnson each added an RBI apiece for the Braves, who have won three of their past four games.

Luis Castillo homered for the Mets. John Maine (5-3), who was 4-0 with a 2.13 earned run average over his previous four starts, gave up four runs on eight hits in four-plus innings.
