MLB: Oakland 11, Minnesota 2

OAKLAND, Calif., April 24 (UPI) -- Donnie Murphy drove in four runs Thursday when Oakland belted the Minnesota Twins 11-2.

His two-run single was the big hit in the bottom of the first inning when Oakland scored six times. Later he hit solo homers in the fifth and sixth innings.

Emil Brown, Kurt Suzuki and Mike Sweeney all had two RBI.

Murphy and Rajai Davis had three hits apiece for the Athletics, who have won five of their last six games.

Winning pitcher Greg Smith (2-0) surrendered two earned runs and seven hits in seven innings.

Minnesota got one RBI each from Carlos Gomez and Brian Buscher.

Gomez' solo homer started the contest in the top of the first.

Both he and Delmon Young had two hits for the Twins, who have dropped two in a row following a three-game winning streak.

Losing pitcher Francisco Liriano (0-3) gave up six earned runs and five hits in 2/3 of an inning.
