MLB: LA Dodgers 9, Cincinnati 3

CINCINNATI, April 21 (UPI) -- Rafael Furcal homered on the game's second pitch and the LA Dodgers went on to trounce the Cincinnati Reds 9-3 Monday.

Nomar Garciaparra homered for the first time this season and drove in three runs for Los Angeles, which beat Cincinnati for the 11th time in their last 13 meetings. James Loney had three RBI and Andre Ethier went 3-for-4 and scored twice for the Dodgers.

Brad Penny (3-2) allowed one run on six hits over six innings to get the win. Chan Ho Park pitched the final three innings for his first career save.

Matt Belisle (0-1), who came off the disabled list before the game, gave up 12 hits and seven runs -- five earned -- in four-plus innings. Belisle had been out with soreness in his right forearm.

Edwin Encarnacion extended his hitting streak to 11 games with a home run, and Joey Votto also homered for the Reds, who have lost eight of their last 10 games.
