MLB: San Francisco 8, St. Louis 2

ST. LOUIS, April 20 (UPI) -- John Bowker's two-run homer capped a six-run fourth inning Sunday when the San Francisco Giants clobbered the St. Louis Cardinals 8-2.

The homer was Bowker's third in 19 major league at-bats. He is the first player in franchise history to hit home runs in his first two games.

Bengie Molina had three hits and three RBI. Aaron Rowand had two hits and two RBI while both Fred Lewis and Ray Durham had two runs and two hits for the Giants, who won twice in the three-game series.

Winner Jonathan Sanchez (1-1) gave up two hits in five scoreless innings with four walks and five strikeouts.

Relievers Keiichi Yabu, Merkin Valdez and Vinnie Chulk mopped up.

St. Louis got one RBI each from Troy Glaus and Rico Washington in the ninth inning.

Losing pitcher Braden Looper (3-1) was shelled for seven earned runs and 10 hits in three innings.
