ST. PETERSBURG, Fla., April 18 (UPI) -- A three-run homer by Jim Thome in the third inning Friday sent the Chicago White Sox coasting past Tampa Bay 9-2.
Paul Konerko and Juan Uribe had two RBI each in helping the White Sox win for the third time in four games.

Chicago took a 9-0 lead through five innings, making a winner out of Javier Vazquez (3-1). He gave up two runs on six hits with four strikeouts in 6 1/3 innings.
Jeff Niemann (1-1) took the loss, allowing eight runs on five hits in 3 1/3. Three of the runs were unearned.
It was Tampa Bay's fourth loss in five outings.
Thome's homer highlighted a four-run third and was followed by a solo shot from Konerko.
Chicago added four runs in the fourth -- two of them on a double by Juan Uribe.
