MLB: Toronto 10, Boston 2

TORONTO, April 5 (UPI) -- Frank Thomas and David Eckstein drove in a combined five runs Saturday in Toronto's 10-2 rout of the Boston Red Sox.

One of Thomas' two hits was a two-run homer in the sixth inning when Toronto, leading 4-2, scored six times to break the game open.

Eckstein had two hits and three RBI and scored a run.

Lyle Overbay and Alex Rios both had one run, two hits and one RBI. Vernon Wells had one hit, one RBI and scored twice, and Aaron Hill had one hit and scored twice for the Blue Jays, who won for the third time in their last four games.

Winning pitcher Jesse Litsch (1-0) allowed two earned runs and five hits in five innings.

Boston scored single runs on a double by Manny Ramirez in the first and Sean Casey's single in the fourth.

Losing pitcher Clay Buchholz (0-1) gave up four runs on six hits with two walks and seven strikeouts in five innings.
