NHL: Phoenix 2, Vancouver 0

GLENDALE, Ariz., March 14 (UPI) -- Ilya Bryzgalov stopped 24 shots Thursday and picked up his third shutout of the season to give Phoenix a 2-0 blanking of Vancouver.

Vancouver is in eighth place in the Western Conference, but the Canucks are only four points behind Colorado, which sits atop the Northeast Division with 84 points.

After a scoreless first period, Niko Kapanen gave Phoenix the lead midway through the second with a power-play goal. Daniel Winnik added insurance 7:32 deep in the third.

Roberto Luongo stopped 41 shots for the Canucks.

Phoenix won its second straight after losing two in a row. This was the third meeting between the Coyotes and Canucks this season and it was the first time the home team won.
