NHL: Colorado 5, Atlanta 2

ATLANTA, March 11 (UPI) -- David Jones scored his first NHL career goal and added two assists Tuesday in the Colorado Avalanche's 5-2 victory over the Atlanta Thrashers.

Andrew Brunette had two goals, and Joe Sakic had a goal and two assists for Colorado, which has won seven of its last eight games.

Colorado goalie Jose Theodore made 22 stops.

Peter Forsberg did not play for the second straight game due to a groin injury he sustained in Saturday's win over Dallas.

Colby Armstrong had a goal and an assist, and Erik Christensen also scored for the Thrashers, who have lost 10 of their last 11 games.

Johan Hedberg gave up five goals on 23 shots over two periods before being replaced by Kari Lehtonen, who stopped all six shots he faced.
