NHL: Philadelphia 3, Atlanta 2

ATLANTA, Feb. 5 (UPI) -- Steve Downie scored a late third-period goal Tuesday, delivering the Philadelphia Flyers a 3-2 victory over the Atlanta Thrashers.

Mike Richards had a goal and an assist for the Flyers, who have won four of their last five games.

1 against the Thrashers since a 4-1 loss in Atlanta on Dec. 21, 2003, having won nine straight.

Antero Niittymaki made 23 saves for his 10th win this season.

Eric Boulton and Ilya Kovalchuk scored for the Thrashers, whose three-game win streak came to an end despite the return of Kovalchuk after missing two games with a right knee injury. Kari Lehtonen allowed all three goals on 36 shots.
