NHL: San Jose 4, St. Louis 1

SAN JOSE, Calif., Jan. 25 (UPI) -- Jonathan Cheechoo scored twice during a three-goal third period Thursday, boosting San Jose past St. Louis 4-1.

After losing a season-high four straight games, the Sharks have now won two in a row. St. Louis has dropped seven straight.

San Jose owned a 1-0 lead going into the final period before Cheechoo scored on a slap shot that got past Manny Legace.

Steve Bernier added a goal for the Sharks before Brad Boyes cut the Blues' deficit to two with a power-play score midway through the period.

Cheechoo then scored a power-play goal of his own with 4:53 to play. Evgeni Nabokov had to make only 17 saves for the Sharks.
