ST. LOUIS, Dec. 23 (UPI) -- Marian Hossa scored on a breakaway 19 seconds into overtime Sunday to give the Atlanta Thrashers a 3-2 victory at St. Louis.
The contest went overtime because Atlanta right wing Mark Recchi tied it 2-2 with his sixth goal this season on the power play at 10:42 of the third.
Atlanta's other goal also came on the power play when Ilya Kovalchuk scored his 29th goal at 16:22 of the second.
Tobias Enstrom had two assists, and goalie Kari Lehtonen stopped 18 of 20 St. Louis shots for the Thrashers, who have won four games in a row.
St. Louis got goals from Barret Jackman in the first and Keith Tkachuk (power play) in the second.
Net-minder Manny Legace was beaten three times on 25 Atlanta shots for the Blues, had won their past two games.
On the power play, Atlanta went 2 for 4 and St. Louis went 1 for 3.
