NHL: Carolina 6, Philadelphia 5 (SO)

PHILADELPHIA, Dec. 16 (UPI) -- Former Flyer Rod Brind'Amour scored the game-winner in a shootout Saturday to give the Carolina Hurricanes a 6-5 win over Philadelphia.

Five players scored once each in regulation, Erik Cole had two assists, and John Grahame finished with 36 saves on 41 shots for the Hurricanes, who broke a three-game losing streak.

Philadelphia's Joffrey Lupul recorded his second hat trick in a week. Danny Briere and Scott Hartnell scored once each.

Braydon Coburn had two assists and Martin Biron made 29 saves on 34 shots for the Flyers, who have lost seven of their last eight home games.

Philadelphia went 2 for 6 on the power play, while Carolina went 0 for 7.

The Flyers were 3-1-0 against the Hurricanes this season, and have not swept the Hartford/Carolina franchise in a regular season since going 3-0 in the 1992-93 campaign.
