DENVER, Dec. 4 (UPI) -- Mike Grier scored in the third period Monday, delivering the San Jose Sharks a 3-2 victory over the Colorado Avalanche.
Milan Michalek and Steve Bernier also scored for the Sharks, while Joe Thornton had a pair of assists. Evgeni Nabokov turned aside 33 shots for San Jose.

Milan Hejduk and Andrew Brunette both scored for Colorado, which has lost three of its last five games. Jose Theodore made 25 saves in defeat.
The Avalanche again played without captain Joe Sakic, who also sat out Saturday contest with a sore groin, ending his regular-season streak of 232 consecutive games played.
