NHL: Philadelphia 4, Calgary 3

OTTAWA, Nov. 24 (UPI) -- Danny Briere scored the game-winning goal in the second period Saturday night, as the Philadelphia Flyers topped the Ottawa Senators 4-3.

The contest was scoreless in the third period after a barrage of goals in the first two.

R.J. Umberger, Scott Hartnell and Mike Richards scored once each.

Briere and Braydon Coburn had two assists apiece, while goalie Antero Niittymaki stopped 26-of-29 shots for the Flyers, who have won two of three.

Ottawa got one goal each from Wade Redden (power play), Dany Heatley and Christoph Schubert, whose third goal of the season at 3:30 of the third gave Ottawa a brief 3-2 lead.

Goaltenders Martin Gerber and Ray Emery combined to give up four goals on 41 shots for the Senators, who have dropped three straight and four of five.

On the power play, Philadelphia was 0-for-4, and Calgary was 1-for-4.
