NHL: Pittsburgh 6, Ottawa 5 (SO)

OTTAWA, Nov. 22 (UPI) -- The Pittsburgh Penguins beat Ottawa, 6-5, Thursday on Jarkko Ruutu's goal in the fifth round of a shootout.

Ruutu slipped the puck through the pads of Senators' goalie Martin Gerber to give his team only its third win in the last 10 games.

Ryan Malone scored two goals for Pittsburgh. Sergei Gonchar, Evgeni Malkin and Tyler Kennedy had one goal apiece.

Jason Spezza scored twice for Ottawa, which has lost three of its last four games. Christoph Schubert, Dany Heatley and Chris Phillips also scored for the Senators.
