NHL: Buffalo 4, Montreal 1

BUFFALO, N.Y., Nov. 16 (UPI) -- Clarke MacArthur scored twice Friday night in his first multi-goal NHL game, lifting the Buffalo Sabres to a 4-1 decision over Montreal.

Daniel Paille and Drew Stafford also scored for Buffalo, ending the Sabres' three-game losing streak. Goaltender Ryan Miller won for only the second time in his last seven starts, making 36 saves.

Montreal's goal came from Michael Ryder, while Cristobal Huet gave up four goals on 28 shots.

MacArthur scored on a rebound 7:59 into the first period. It was the Sabres' first lead in regulation in 495 minutes, 33 seconds. They had scored just five goals in their previous five games.

The second goal for MacArthur was the final score of the game and came 6:45 into the second.

This was the fifth of nine straight contests against division opponents for Buffalo.
