NHL: Atlanta 6, Tampa Bay 4

TAMPA, Fla., Nov. 4 (UPI) -- Ilya Kovalchuk recorded his second straight hat trick Saturday night, as the Atlanta Thrashers beat the Tampa Bay Lightning, 6-4.

Marian Hossa had a goal and an assist, while Pascal Dupuis and Tobias Enstrom both scored once.

In his first NHL start, goaltender Ondrej Pavelec yielded four goals on 34 shots for the Thrashers, who have won three of their last four games.

It was the ninth hat trick of Kovalchuk’s career. His third goal of the game was an empty-netter at 18:38 of the third period.

Tampa Bay got two goals from Shane O'Brien in the first period, and one each from Michel Ouellet and Brad Richards.

Goalie Johan Holmqvist allowed five goals on 21 shots for the Lightning, have lost two in a row on home ice.

On the power play, Tampa Bay went 2-for-4, and the Thrashers were 1-for-3.
