MLB: Chi. Cubs 3, Cincinnati 2

CHICAGO, Sept. 19 (UPI) -- Matt Murton knocked in the winning run Wednesday night with an eighth-inning fielder’s choice grounder as the Chicago Cubs edged Cincinnati, 3-2.

All the game’s other runs scored on solo homers. Chicago's Alfonso Soriano and Geovany Soto homered in the first and fifth innings, while Cincinnati got homers from Edwin Encarnacion in the second and Adam Dunn in the fourth.

Soriano, whose homer started the bottom of the first, was one of three players with two hits, as the Cubs won for the seventh time in their last 10 games.

The winner was Bob Howry (6-7) after starter Ted Lilly allowed two earned runs and five hits in seven innings, with a walk and eight strikeouts.

Norris Hopper had two of the six hits for the Reds, who have split their last 10 games.

The losing pitcher was reliever Gary Majewski (0-3).
