There was no carryover from the hard feelings that flared Tuesday when New York's Alex Rodriguez was hit by a pitch, causing both benches to empty. Rodriguez sat out Wednesday night's game with a sore calf.

Roy Halladay benefited from the offensive attack, winning his fifth straight start at home. Halladay (13-5) gave up four runs on six hits in seven innings while striking out eight.

The loss went to Chien-Ming Wang (13-6), who surrendered eight runs on nine hits while retiring eight batters.

New York had won its previous five games.
