MLB: Chicago White Sox 7. Detroit 5

DETROIT, Aug. 4 (UPI) -- A.J. Pierzynski had a home run, two RBI and two runs scored Saturday, helping propel the Chicago White Sox to a 7-5 win over the Detroit Tigers.

Jermaine Dye added two RBI and a run for the White Sox, who have won three straight games. Jim Thome homered and scored three runs for Chicago.

Javier Vazquez (9-6) allowed three runs on six hits with six strikeouts and two walks over seven innings as he posted his third win in his last four starts.

Jeremy Bonderman (10-4) was the loser after allowing six runs and 10 hits over seven innings.

Placido Polanco had a homer and scored two runs for the Tigers, who have lost 10 of their last 12, but remain only a half-game behind Cleveland in the AL Central.
