Singh has third-round Canadian Open lead

MARKHAM, Ontario, July 28 (UPI) -- Vijay Singh shot a 3-under 68 Saturday to take a one-shot lead over Steve Allan and John Mallinger after three rounds of the Canadian Open.

Singh -- who enters the fourth round at 12-under 201 -- might have built a bigger lead, but he but bogeyed two of his final six holes and three-putted for par on another.

Allan (70) had a chance to take a share of the lead, but he bogeyed the 18th hole. Mallinger also shot 70 Saturday.

"Thank God I did it today and not tomorrow," Singh said of his back-nine breakdown.

Hunter Mahan (67) is in fourth place at 10-under 203. Defending champion Jim Furyk (69) is tied with Pat Perez (66) for fifth at 9-under 204.
