CHICAGO, July 25 (UPI) -- Four hits and seven RBI from Ryan Raburn, both career highs, helped Detroit outslug the Chicago White Sox 13-9 Wednesday.
Raburn came within one RBI of equaling the team record established by Jim Northrup 39 years ago. Northrup equaled his own record in 1973 and Carlos Pena also tied it in 2003.
The Tigers had 19 hits with Raburn hitting a solo homer in the second and a three-run shot in the third. He contributed one-run double as part of a five-run fifth that allowed Detroit to overcome a two-run deficit.
Raburn added some insurance with a two-run single in the ninth.
Jermaine Dye, Josh Fields, Juan Uribe and Andy Gonzalez all homered for Chicago, but the White Sox lost for the fifth time in seven games.
The win went to Jason Grilli (5-2), who gave up two runs in three innings in relief of Kenny Rogers. Tim Byrdak worked the eighth and ninth for his first save.
Jose Contreras (5-13) surrendered nine runs on 12 hits in 4 2/3.
