Unseeded Andreev continues roll on clay

AMERSFOORT, Netherlands, July 19 (UPI) -- Unseeded Igor Andreev continued his solid clay-court play Thursday and advanced to the quarterfinals of the Dutch Open with a three-set victory.

Andreev, moving into the quarterfinals of a clay-court tournament for the fourth time this year, defeated fourth-seeded Filippo Volandri 3-6, 6-1, 6-4.

He next faces qualifier Steve Darcis, who used a 7-6 (7-4), 6-1 win over Gilles Simon to reach his first ATP quarterfinal round.

In other matches Thursday, third-seeded Carlos Moya swept by Mariano Zabaleta 6-2, 6-3 and Werner Eschaur beat Raemon Sluiter 6-2, 6-4. Moya and Eschaur are paired against each other in Friday's quarterfinals.

The other players in the Dutch Open quarterfinals are second-seeded Mikhail Youzhny, Evgeny Korolev, Florent Serra and Robin Haase.
