WASHINGTON, June 24 (UPI) -- Jason Simontacchi scattered an earned run and only four hits over six innings Sunday as Washington beat Cleveland 3-1.
Simontacchi walked one batter and struck out six while improving his record to 5-5. He got help from four relievers, with Chad Cordero earning his 13th save.
Jesus Flores had a hit and two RBI, Ryan Langerhans hit a sacrifice fly, Ronnie Belliard had a run and three hits, and Dmitri Young had two hits and scored twice for the Nationals. Washington won twice in the three-game series after being swept in three by Detroit.
Franklin Gutierrez laced a solo homer in the fifth for Cleveland's lone run.
Josh Barfield had two of the four hits for the Indians, who scored a total of six runs in the series, and have split their last six.
Losing pitcher Jake Westbrook (1-3) surrendered three earned runs on seven hits in seven innings with no walks and two strikeouts.
