MLB: Milwaukee 7, San Francisco 5

MILWAUKEE, June 20 (UPI) -- Bill Hall hit a grand slam and drove in a career-high five runs Wednesday to help the Milwaukee Brewers beat San Francisco, 7-5.

The homer, Hall's eighth of the season, came in the bottom of the first inning, as the Giants lost their seventh straight game.

Ryan Braun went 2-for-4 with an RBI triple. J.J. Hardy, returning from a one-game absence because of tightness in his left hip, had one hit and scored twice for the NL Central-leading Brewers, who have won eight of their last 10 games.

Winner Claudio Vargas (6-1) yielded four earned runs and four hits in five innings, while Francisco Cordero earned his 27th save of the season.

The Giants' Bengie Molina smacked a grand slam in the sixth, a run scored on an error, and Kevin Frandsen had two hits.

Loser Barry Zito (6-8) gave up six earned runs and five hits in four innings.
