MLB: St. Louis 12, Chi. Cubs 9 (10)

CHICAGO, April 22 (UPI) -- Albert Pujols hit a three-run homer in the top of the 10th inning Sunday to give the St. Louis Cardinals a 12-9 victory over the Chicago Cubs.

Scott Rolen had five hits, including a solo homer, and three RBI. Jim Edmonds and Chris Duncan both hit two-run homers, and Adam Kennedy hit a two-run double for the Cardinals, who won twice in the three-game series.

The winner was closer Jason Isringhausen (1-0).

Michael Barrett hit a two-run homer and had three hits, Aramis Ramirez added a three-run shot, and Jacque Jones had two hits and two RBI. Mark DeRosa hit a game-tying two-run single in the bottom of the ninth, and Ryan Theriot had a run and three hits for the Cubs, who have split their last four games.

The losing pitcher was Ryan Dempster (0-1).
